Learning Showcase
We love to share the children's learning and successes. At Long Lane we celebrate learning in a different way. Children receive recognition for all their efforts (from their starting points) and we encourage a celebration of progress and achievement. This looks different for every individual. When we say 'No Learner Left Behind', we really mean it.
We also have a broad understanding of what 'learning' means. Our children are expected to value all different types of learning that in turn develops well rounded, educated citizens.

Metacognition - Learning how to Learn
When we When we talk to the children about learning, we talk about how to be a good learner, which involves risk taking, FAIL (First Attempt in Learning), resilience, working together, pushing yourself and concentration/engagement. We celebrate and recognise these traits aswell as and in conjunction with results.
Social Learning
Learning is not just about academics and foundation subjects. We teach our children that they are learning in every minute of their day. We place importance on social learning, learning through play and about each other. We learn about how to interact in a safe and positive way, how to be creative through play and curiosity and also how to navigate difference and conflict. All this learning is just as important as the subjects we teach.
