WHY CHOOSE LONG LANE?

Choosing a school that suits your child's needs and aligns with your values is one of the most important decisions you will make for your child. We believe that we have a strong and unique ethos with values that will ensure that all children can be successful and happy with us.

What do our staff say about why they love Long Lane Primary School?

Alongside prioritising our children's well being, Staff well being and work life balance is a top priority at Long Lane. We know that happy staff means happy children and families and we want to look after all of our community. We asked our staff for feedback about why they love working at Long Lane.

MRS JENNINGS – OFFICE MANAGER

"Long Lane is more than just a workplace – it’s a community where everyone feels valued. I’ve never worked in a school where the Headteacher is so actively involved in every aspect of school life. That level of care and connection makes Long Lane truly unique and a wonderful place to belong. I feel proud every day to be part of a team that puts children at the heart of everything we do."

MRS MOWBRAY – TEACHER

"I feel trusted, valued and supported to teach; staff are not micro-managed. Just as we have high expectations of our children, we do of ourselves and are allowed to achieve this in ways that work for us and the children."

MR HUNT – TEACHER

"We all have a voice and have input into the development of the school.  The children’s social and emotional development is our first priority.  I love that being able to offer all children opportunities to access high quality PE, school sport and physical activity is a school priority.  Staff know they have each other’s backs and will support each other.  Not too much pressure from SLT and support where needed.  Always someone to go to if issues within class which is essential when dealing with behaviour and pastoral care.  We are trusted to deliver a curriculum that suits the needs of our children."

MISS COLEMAN – HLTA

"Even though I’m new to Long Lane, it already feels like I’ve been part of the team for years. Everyone is so welcoming and supportive, and it’s easy to feel at home here. The friendly, collaborative atmosphere makes it a wonderful place to work."

MRS TURNER – TEACHER

"Being part of Long Lane is something really special. There’s such a warm ethos and sense of belonging that makes it feel like home. Everyone looks out for each other, and that team spirit shines through in everything we do — especially in how we care for and support the children. Families feel truly involved, and it’s all made possible by the way we work together so seamlessly. It’s a place full of heart, and I feel so lucky to be part of it."

MISS GARDINER – TEACHER

"It's about being part of a team in which everyone is heard, considered and valued. We put the children at the centre of everything we do but know that we are important too - if we've had a tough day, there's always someone who will listen and support. Ultimately, I like the people I work with and the ethos of the school and that makes all the difference."

PARENT FEEDBACK

“I think communication is clear. I have personally found the workshops run by the school very helpful and would love to attend more. I love the inclusiveness at Long Lane. Tina Allison told us ‘no one is left behind’ which is such a comfort to hear. The children are encouraged to be independent learners, to take initiative and grow at their own pace. I am very happy my daughter is at Long Lane.”

“Thank you for showing me around the school. You are clearly passionate about Long Lane and all the things you are working on for the children.”

“You really have done everything you can to help us with [...] we are really grateful.” SEND parent

“It is really clear that there is an ethos around the putting the children first at Long Lane and there is a strong Therapeutic ethos.”

“I would like to give a compliment to the school about how well catered our children are for how many extra curricular clubs we have to choose from at Long Lane. We/the kids are really very spoilt for choice here. The diversity of clubs we have here really sets us apart from other local schools. And with what you've been able to set up with our after school & breakfast club provision (and how easy it is to access this provision), we are very lucky here - please, long may it continue!”

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful school with me this morning, I can see that my son would absolutely love it and thrive in such a nurturing, positive and well rounded environment. He spotted me visiting while he was in preschool and is desperate to come to the big school, so Long Lane will be going down as my first choice and I'll be praying that, despite not being in catchment, we manage to get a place. Fingers crossed for a space for us! Keep doing what you are doing, you have a school to be very proud of!

Many thanks again.

I was really impressed with the school when I toured it and would love for my daughter to go here! Fingers crossed. I shall be submitting my application shortly.

I just wanted to pass on my thanks for a fantastic, informative tour. I had been almost dreading the prospect of our daughter beginning school, knowing how brutal, and developmentally inappropriate, the transition from reception to KS1 is in the majority of primary schools. Seeing your fantastic school in action has changed that dread to excitement! Thank you for putting the children first.

Belong with us!

At Long Lane we believe that education encompasses many areas and includes many aspects of real life. We are strongly committed to providing an extended family ethos to our pupils, families and wider stakeholders that leads to a strong ethos of belonging. We understand that values are at the core of a successful establishment and that we, as staff and leaders, are the role models by which these values are realised for our children to embrace. We strongly believe in collaboration with staff, parents and children and actively ask your opinion to support us with the decisions we make.

As parents, you are the experts of your child and, as educators, we are the experts of how to nurture and develop children as individuals, through the many opportunities that we offer.

Above all, we aim to provide a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment, that enables all learners to feel valued and challenged to reach their full potential, whatever their starting points and within a caring community. Our children are encouraged to become confident and independent learners, learning from mistakes (F.A.I.L approach, first attempt in learning)  and developing a 'love of learning'  where talents are recognised and high personal and academic standards can be achieved.

We promote a therapeutic approach, laying at the heart of our ethos, which is rooted in empathy and a passion for doing the right thing for the right reason, inclusion of all (we have No Outsiders, Everyone Welcome), therefore becoming good citizens of the future with intrinsic motivation and values.

Our curriculum offers opportunities for all styles of learners and ensures that 'No Learner is Left Behind' through active and outdoor learning, a varied and practical curriculum, packed with enrichment and that 'champions inclusion and challenge'.

Staff at our school are always learning and lead through our strengths, have autonomy but work as a team to make decisions that are child centred and outcome focused.

We are so proud of the way in which our teachers teach and children learn that we offer 'Parent Learning Tours'This is an excellent way for stakeholders to get involved in the intricate workings of the school, speak directly with our 'Learning Ambassadors' and be able to see for themselves quality of education that we are so proud of at Long Lane.
