WELCOME FROM YOUR PTA
Community coming together

Long Lane Primary School Parent Teacher Association comprises of willing parents and staff who meet regularly to raise money for the school and have some fun along the way! The money we raise is used to fund extra projects across the school that directly benefit our children.
We organise various fun events ranging from our traditional family Christmas fair to more parent-oriented activities like our popular Quiz nights. Towards the end of the summer term we hold a BBQ for the Year 6 Leavers which is a great way to finish the year.
Why not come along to an event or join the Committee? For more information e-mail the Chair of the PTA or leave your details at the School Office and we will contact you.

All PTA communications are through the Classlist app. This enables the PTA to reach everyone in the school community instantly. After receiving an invitation, you will start to receive announcements straight away.
Please read the following for more information: Classlist feature.pdf

How do you become a member of the PTA?

When your child starts school you automatically are welcomed as a member of the PTA. As a small committee we really do require support from you in order to help raise vital funds for the school that directly benefits our children and to plan events that bring our community together. We understand that not everyone has lots of time so whether you are able to support by helping, planning, offering skills or services, donating, or simply attending events, this will be gratefully valued.
If you feel that you can help us in any way then please do get in contact either through our Facebook page, Class List or the school office.
Gift Aid

Using Gift Aid means that for every £1 you give, the PTA will receive an extra 25p from the Inland Revenue, helping your donation go further. This means that £10 can be turned into £12.50 just so long as donations are made through Gift Aid. Imagine what a difference that could make and it doesn’t cost you a thing.
If you wish to Gift Aid any donations you make to Long Lane PTA simply print the Gift Aid Declaration Form, complete and return to the School Office along with your donation.
Give As You Earn
In addition many employers offer schemes that allow you to donate to charities via payroll. Charitable donations come straight from your gross salary (before tax has been deducted). This means that you get immediate tax relief on the value of your donation. Therefore, for a basic rate taxpayer wanting to give a £10 donation, it will only cost you £8.00, or just £6 for higher rate taxpayers.
Furthermore, many employers are encouraging these schemes by matching their employees' donations.
Why not ask your employer if they run such a scheme? Long Lane School PTA has already been registered with Give As You Earn and our account number is 000458780.

Thank you for all your support

A little bit about the projects we have supported
Our PTA have actively supported so many projects to improve the school for our children. They are inclusive, always keep the children at the heart of what they do and listen to the school about what is most needed and desired.
There are many ways in which the PTA support the school on a regular basis such as; subsidising trips and visits, providing craft packs for each class, buying much needed resources for classes where school budgets are stretched and on events to support the children having fun and joining together.
They also put extensive money into larger projects to support the school such as our amazing playground zoning project to promote active play, IXL subscription to support bespoke home learning and school practise and also our new sensory hub. ou can see some of this come to fruition here.

Come and join in with community events
In order for school to build an effective and close community we need all stakeholders to come together to support the school, enjoy our events and collaborate with the children and families that it serves. Our PTA are the glue that holds this community together, ensuring that there are many events for everyone to take part in over the school year.
Reduce, Re-use & Recycle

Our uniform is simple and designed so that cheaper alternatives can be purchased in a range of local and national stores. We are flexible to the needs of families, particularly when children have grown out of clothes/shoes and need to wait to replace them. We have few branded options and they are optional not mandatory. Please see our Uniform page.

Our Reduce, Re-use & Recycle scheme supports and encourages parents to donate uniform that is no longer needed and swap for nearly new uniform. We ensure that this is able to be done discreetly and are working hard to remove the stigma around pre-loved uniform and promote this as a help to the environment. Please ask the PTA for details.

Clothes recycling scheme – This is a scheme set up by our PTA to support our Reduce, Re-use & Recycle initiative. Parents can recycle old clothes and materials at school in our clothes bin and the school receives money for each full collection that will go to valuable trips, resources and experiences. The school are happy to support families in receipt of pupil premium with uniform, shoes and other school kit. Please approach the teacher if this is something we can help with.

We understand that it can be expensive to buy books and apparatus for school – we have a swap shop for school supplies and a 'lending library' at the front of the school for parents to help themselves and also donate if they wish to. Children can borrow books from the 'lending library' and bring them back later on.

Food swap shop – We realise that one persons treat is another persons waste. We want to ensure that there is no stigma around the need to stock your food cupboards. If you have bought something (wrapped and untouched) that you have discarded but someone else might want then please swap it out for something you might like. If you would like the school to make a referral to the 'food bank' we can do this also. Please contact our Family Support Worker (Mrs Syrad) to arrange this – familysupport@longlane.w-berks.sch.uk

'Coats for Kids' – In the office we have a rail of coats for anyone to take for their children. These are donations managed by the PTA to ensure that 'No child goes cold'.
