SCHOOL UNIFORM
We are very aware that children need to feel comfortable at school and to learn effectively, whilst also understanding the sense of belonging that a uniform can bring to pupils and school families. Shoes
All children should wear sensible black shoes with flat heels; this could include trainers as long as they are black with black soles and laces. ‘Canvas’ type shoes or open toed sandals are not appropriate. Some reinforced ankle boots will be considered but are at the discretion of the head teacher (assessing safety and appropriateness). If it is a wet or cold day and your child needs to wear wellies or warm boots to travel to school, please make sure they have normal school shoes (as above) to change into. Children are welcome to bring a spare pair of ‘outdoor’ sensible shoes/trainers/wellies to access the field at lunchtimes. These should stay in school. Accessible shoes for supporting children with sensory needs will also be considered (HT discretion).
After school and lunchtime sports clubs
It is preferable that children do not wear PE kit for football, rugby or cross country practice or extra curricular sporting clubs. (Instead they should have an appropriate change of clothing). Wear appropriate clothing when possible i.e. leotard for gymnastics.
-
Wear their PE kit for athletics or cricket
School teams

We will provide children with; socks, shorts and shirts for rugby and football, socks, netball skirts and sweatshirts for netball, t-shirts for running and cross country
Appearance
-
Make-up, including nail varnish, is not permitted in school
-
Children are permitted to wear one small silver or gold ear stud in each ear lobe but the school can take no responsibility for these. These need to be removed or covered before PE activities for health and safety reasons.
-
Children are allowed to wear a simple watch to tell time (but not a Smart watch) or electronic device
-
Extremes of hair fashions are not appropriate; In particular, words or symbols cut into hair will not be permitted within the school. Long hair should be tied back at all times (with small hair bows or ties) for health and safety reasons (At this school, we recognise and celebrate our staff and students’ identities. We are a community built on an ethos of equality/equity and respect where hair texture and style have no bearing on anyone’s ability to succeed).

Year 6 School Hoodies
Year 6 have the privilege of being able to purchase a school leavers hoodie in the Autumn Term. This is usually organised by the parents in Year 6. This is not a requirement. Children in Year 6 are allowed to wear their hoodies in school as a privilege.

Sensory Friendly Clothing
We recognise that children need to feel comfortable and grounded in order to learn well and be at their happiest in school. We welcome sensory friendly clothing where it helps your child. For any additional items or needs, please speak to the SENDCo or Headteacher to see if we can accommodate.
Here's a website that supports sensory friendly clothing.
