STATUTORY & KEY INFORMATION

This is a quick navigation guide of statutory information, most of which can be found also on other pages of our website.

School Performance Data

Long Lane assesses children's development in a number of ways. Please ask a teacher for detailed individual progress. The government requires that we deliver national testing at the end of KS2 SATs (Year 6) along with Year 4 times-tables check, Y1 Phonics Screening Check and Foundation Stage Baseline assessments. KS1 SATs tests are no longer statutory.

Financial Information

BENCHMARKING

Here is a link to the school's Financial Benchmarking website where the Consistent Financial Reporting (CFR) statement of income, expenditure and balances is published: Schools Financial Benchmarking

  • Individuals Earning over £100,000 – There are no individuals earning over £100,000 employed by Long Lane Primary School

Parent Communication

SIMS Parentmail App (School Run)

The SIMS Parent App Lite is a free tool to help schools comply with the GDPR data requirements, by providing a simple way to collect, manage and handle information. The school uses parent mail for all correspondence to parents, payments and lunch orders.

It is an easy-to-use, secure tool to help streamline the way Long Lane Primary School collects and maintains parent and pupil data. It will also give the power to the parents as they can keep their own data up-to-date and significantly reduce the administration process with the school.

The school sends emails to parents through this app – all vital correspondence comes via parent mail, including school closures or changes to timetable, trips, newsletters, notices and notice of events.

When your child joins the school you will be invited to join this system.

If you haven't yet signed up to the App you can sign in by following this link.

Parents should receive an email from 'noreply@sims.co.uk' which gives the registration details. Please check your junk email and ensure it has not been marked as spam. If you would like this to be resent, please contact the school office.

Once registered you can sign in to SIMS Parent via the internet on Sims Parent Sign in.

There are also SIMS Parent apps available from your app store for iOS and Android devices.

If you would rather not use this App, please let the School Office know and they will be happy to provide you with a printout of your child's stored information for you to check and amend if necessary.

Class List (PTA Run)

Class List is an app used by our PTA to support parents in finding out about events and supporting community work carried out by the PTA. Most parents join this app as when you join the school, you are made a member of the PTA.  You should be sent an invite to join the app when you join the school but if you are unsure please speak to someone in the PTA team who can be found on the PTA page.

Complaints

At Long Lane, we strive to reach out to our community and stakeholders regularly to support and ensure that we are meeting the needs of pupils and family expectations. We are proactive about dealing with concerns early on and are very open to discuss any concerns that parents have.

Our team, including the leadership team, are keen to provide an open door policy and actively encourage feedback about how we can improve (please join our PALS group if you would like to be involved in positive change).

If you have a complaint then please come and speak to a member of the team in the first instance.  If this is not sufficient then we have a process to escalate this further. Please see our linked Complaints Policy.

General Enquiries

For general enquiries, to make an appointment or to speak to a member of staff it is best to phone or email the school office. Your enquiry or request will be passed on to the relevant person who will contact you when they are available. Please remember that our teachers are teaching through the day so a response is likely not to be immediate. If your query or information is important then you can relay this to our office staff also.

We always have a DSL onsite, if you have a matter regarding safeguarding then please ask to speak to a DSL.

We have a number of direct email addresses to support specific enquiries;

School Office – office@longlane.w-berks.sch.uk

SEND – SEND@longlane.w-berks.sch.uk

Safeguarding – Safeguarding@longlane.w-berks.sch.uk

Evolve – First Aid

The school uses a system called 'Evolve' to log and manage any first aid administered at school. The school will record all first aid incidents brought to their attention on this system, including administrating medicines.

Parents will be contacted about any accidents or first aid

Parents can authorise medicines to be taken at school through the office (a permission form will be requested).

Other Information

PALS (Parents as Links to School)

We are very lucky to be able to work with our parents in many different ways.  We currently have a PALS group who meet once a short term with SLT to discuss matters arising to support the link between school and parents.  Parents bring FAQ's and queries, as well as voice their perspective on operational and communication matters to ensure that there is clear communication with stakeholders.  Any parent can join this group.

PTA

The Long Lane Parent Teacher Association (PTA), a charity run by volunteer parents, is active and well supported by parents. It raises in the region of £20,000 each year, which is spent on various activities and resources at the School’s request.

We are so proud of our PTA who are dedicated to planning and delivering events across the year for children and families including 'Gardening Family days', 'Elf Olympics', Fish and Chip Quiz night and many more.

School Uniform

We have a simple uniform policy which is popular with parents and children alike. Our only branded uniform piece is the Long Lane school jumper with the school logo, with a number of options that can be obtained from local shops and supermarkets. You can find out more about our uniform on our Uniform page.

Governors

The Governing Body is drawn from a variety of backgrounds including finance, legal, healthcare, secondary education, local government and school staff.

Governors are always seeking diversity and challenge. The work of the governors remains as one committee.
